The Tallinn Digital Summit 2024, scheduled for November 19-20 at the Tallinn Creative Hub, will convene global leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the future of digital innovation and security. Hosted by the Estonian Prime Minister, the summit aims to address pressing geopolitical and technological challenges, fostering a secure and sustainable digital environment.
Program and Main Theme: Securing the Digital Tomorrow
This year’s summit will focus on the theme “Securing the Digital Tomorrow,” reflecting the urgent need for global cooperation to ensure a safe and prosperous digital future amidst rapid technological and geopolitical changes.
Day 1: Leadership in Digital Security and Innovation
The summit will begin with an opening ceremony featuring keynote speeches, followed by a session titled “Setting the Scene – Political, Technological, and Regulatory (Digital) Landscapes,” where industry leaders and policymakers will discuss the current state of the digital landscape. Throughout the day, there will be a series of panels addressing critical issues such as “Trusted Connectivity and Global Security after Ukraine / Translating Trusted Connectivity into Practice,” focusing on the impact of global security dynamics on digital infrastructure and connectivity, and “Trusted Connectivity and Energy Security,” exploring the relationship between energy security and digital infrastructure. Another key discussion, “Trusted Connectivity and Cooperation of Development Finance Institutions,” will delve into financing values-based global infrastructure projects, while the “Trusted Connectivity and Cooperation of Development Cooperation Institutions” panel will highlight the importance of secure digital infrastructure in development cooperation.
The agenda also includes a discussion on “Trusted Connectivity and Standards and Norms,” emphasizing the need for global standards to ensure secure and trusted connectivity. The day will conclude with insights from the private sector during the “Trusted Connectivity and Private Sector” session, examining how private investments can drive the development of digital infrastructure.
The first day will end with a welcome dinner at the Port of Tallinn Cruise Terminal, providing a unique opportunity for participants to network and engage in informal discussions in a picturesque setting.
Day 2: Toward a Secure and Open Digital Future
The second day will shift focus toward technical cooperation in digitalization, starting with the “Cybersecurity and Global Conflict in the 21st Century” session, addressing the critical role of cybersecurity in a digitalized world. This will be followed by a discussion on “Web 3.0,” exploring the next generation of the internet and its implications for governance and society. The session “Digital Public Goods” will highlight the importance of open-source digital solutions in global digital transformation, and “Data Governance” will explore best practices and challenges in managing data as a strategic asset.
The event will close with a concluding session that reflects on the discussions and sets the stage for continued collaboration among global leaders in shaping a secure and open digital future.
Global Representation and Participation
The summit will host representatives from over 60 countries across Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. Esteemed organizations like the European Parliament, World Bank, ITU, NATO, and the United Nations, as well as leading companies including Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, and OpenAI, are expected to participate.
